Pre-order and Shipping Times - Who Will Get the Mavic First?

I was too impatient to see a package with DJI written on it, so I went ahead and ordered the Osmo mobile. should be at my doorstep tomorrow. In 3 days flat :-|
 
Yeah I wouldn't sacrifice some Vietnam souvenirs for lipo bunkers lol! You can get them at any gun/surplus store or even Amazon. Here's a very informative video...This gave me the idea...I just make a small bunker with 4 cinder blocks and the lid is cement board.

This is only when charging, right?

Can I leave batteries that are completely charged (not charging, but already charged) stored over night for a next day flight?

When we announced Mavic Pro and began accepting pre-orders, we expected to deliver the first units in mid-October. However, ramping up production to full speed at top quality took longer than planned. Prior to our scheduled shipping target, we encountered an issue integrating a part into the Mavic Pro. We resolved that within a week. On top of that, the excitement for the Mavic Pro beat our expectations. As a result, we are working diligently to ramp up production to meet the higher-than-anticipated demand for the Mavic Pro.

We have been shipping for nearly two weeks, but even with round-the-clock production, we unfortunately cannot give specific delivery estimates for many orders moving through various global sales channels because of this demand. For Mavic Pro orders received before November 3, 2016, we will do our best to clear them all within the next seven to eight weeks.

Some of you waiting for your Mavic Pro also expressed concern about our immediate billing of pre-orders. We've heard you and are examining potential alternatives with our payment provider.

DJI exists to put amazing technology and innovation into your hands, and we're sorry it's taking so long with Mavic Pro. Our internal systems haven't kept up with the enormous demand for our products, and your enthusiasm for our newest offering is spurring us to improve. We appreciate your understanding and are doing everything we can to get Mavic Pro to you as quickly as possible.

yeah cinder blocks work well. i've seen these bunkers on flite test on youtube which is a very good channel. my uncle will never give up his vietnam cans lol. honestly i think the dji batteries are much much safer. i have been using old school racers with the regular lipo batteries which are most dangerous. that is why i cant wait for a mavic. my racers take about ten mins to set up. i have to velcro a camera on to record, the battery, a voltage beeper, and whatever else, i cant remember because since i ordered the mavic i've just been waiting on it. i cant wait to fly something that is an all-in-one unit that i can just stick a battery in and use. these quads i have just take too much to set up and when you crash them everything goes flying. i had to search for my möbius camera once for almost an hour until i found it.

I agree the DJI batteries are pretty solid. If they get discharged too far they will just not take a charge anymore. I've run many to 0-1% on my distance runs. It's smart in the sense that they wont allow you to charge them if they are too low on voltage...Whereas a lot of times you can bypass the internal smart board to revive them...But that's where the danger comes in... Here's an intersting video of a DJI lipo fire... It can still happen but is rarer than any regular lipo.

While charging is most dangerous time...And fully charged is dangerous too because if there was a failure, it would have full energy storage.

When I placed my order in September I was pretty confident I'd have a Mavic in time for a trip to Thailand on December 18. I mean, that's like 11 weeks after pre-order. Now it looks like its gonna go down to the wire.

But at least DJI provided an update with some meaningful information. That counts for something, right?

I wonder if the part they had trouble integrating is the camera. I've seen several forum messages regarding the lens having issues (out of focus in the corners)
