Pro4 mini Waypoints and obsatcle avoidance

Hi C
Make sure you have a read of the waypoint flight section of the manual. If the drone senses an obstacle during a mission, it will just hover. If it loses signal I don’t know what it will do. If DJI have lumped Dorset into the EU (probably) the drone will not continue the mission, if Dorset is outside the EU, it should continue the mission if that’s what you’ve told it to do.

Hi B,
For me, remembering lots of instructions, especially under pressure is difficult. I have a few items: car, ham radio etc plus the drone, and getting muscle memory of how they work takes a long time, so too much is not welcome. I actually don't know exactly how to turn the car lights on, because they are automatic, when it gets dark, and I don't remember what I read about it, so just leave them alone. ( I got a speeding fine, while messing about with auto cruise control :))
I had an early version of Ardupilot, for my drones, but never used it for the above reason.

I looked at Litchi, it looks good for most people but I think I'll leave it for now, and see if I can manage with locations, that I get by different means, then typed into a 'mission' I'll remember how I do it, as it is logical! If I find it cant be automated, and a pain, then I'll re-look at Litchi.
Thanks, C

Even though the Litchi app can't be used with drone generations after the Mavic 2, the Litchi Hub tool, on-line on the web, is immensely useful for planning and tweaking waypoint missions, and has a lot more flexibility for editing and tweaking waypoints than the native DJI interface. A mission created on Litchi hub can then be converted to the DJI format and loaded onto DJI Fly with Litchi Waypoint Mission to DJI Waypoint Mission Converter, a tool created by Wes Barris, a prominent member of this site (@DJ Wes).

If you do a lot of waypoint missions, purchasing Litchi just for the Hub feature may be worth it. Wes and others have developed many more tools that automate creating specific missions, like spiraling out from a POI for example, so working in the "Litchi World" if using waypoints has many advantages.

Hi D,
Ok, thanks and noted.

I have a few hobbies, where extra programs and apps help with things, like the Arduino system in electronics, but for some reason, I like to use raw ingredients, if I can (in this case text files). This is a bit harder, but makes me more independant.
