I'm planning to fly my Mini 5 Pro in the UK this summer, so I went and got the required Flyer ID and Operator ID from the CAA website. On my CAA account there's some info about my remote ID number. Well and good.

However, in spite of having aircraft and controller FW updated, there is no Remote ID in the drone settings. Many places refer to a setting under Safety, but my Mini 5 Pro does not have that. It's just not there.

This is a screen cap from a YouTube video showing the Remote ID setting, which is missing on my drone.

So what do other Mini 5 Pro owners do about this? I'd love to know.

OK... so does my Mini 5 Pro broadcast this automatically? And if so, what is the purpose of the Remote ID setting on the drone? (the setting that I don't have)
I'm not the experts on M5P RID but perhaps you can start here and decide if any of it applies to non-US locations:

  • Exceptions: Drones purchased before 1 January 2026 are generally exempt until 2028, allowing a transition period in the UK.
Canada does not mandate RID which is why the field is blank for you.
The UK started requiring RID January 1, 2026 with a phased in approach.
The Mini 5 Pro is fully capable of broadcasting RID and does broadcast it in the U.S. no matter which battery is used.

It is still unclear whether the Mini 5 Pro now broadcasts RID worldwide, regardless of whether it is required in the country in which it is being flown, or whether it only selectively broadcasts in countries that require it, based off GPS, and local requirements. I strongly suspect the latter.

In any event, your drone purchased prior to this year is exempt from the requirement to broadcast RID in the UK, but might still broadcast it anyway, as the height limit has been reduced to 120m and speed limits have been imposed by a Trojan Horse that was embedded in a prior FW update with an effective date of January 1, 2026, even without an internet connection in the UK.

There is no user controlled RID setting. It is either displayed or not, based off the GPS location. Yours is not displayed because you are in Canada now. When you are in the UK, it will most likely be displayed, and probably broadcast, but is not yet legally required.
