Question for DaVinci Resolve 15 specialists - Stuttering playback

It's in file -> project settings the option to change frame rates, probably can't be changed once there are clips in the media pool / timeline already though.

Can maybe try the render speed settings though, see if that helps...

Hi, I tried the lower render speed. No changes ;-(

Changing fps in project settings to 24fps, did not help.
Output can not be changed to 24fps ;-(

Other thoughts?
A) Regarding what res&fps to use best?
B) How I can steady the existing footage in post?

I remember that the Mavic Air had recorded with 4k@24 fps intersting enough DaVinci offers only 29.97fps. Might that explain the stuttering?
Yes.
When you drag a 24fps clip into a new project Resolve should ask you if you want to match your project to that clip, you should answer yes. If you don't then there will be mismatched settings and it cannot be changed later, have to recreate a whole new project or it will lead to such issues.

For youtube you should be shooting 30fps.

Ok.

Regarding correction the existing footage, a guy in the Blackmagic forum suggest trying optical flow for framerate correction. I'll try that.

Regarding future projects:
So in general I'll shoot at 2.7k@30fps in the future. Along the lines that most users will use primarely HD and some 4k that seems a good compromise.

If I need a slomo shot I'll need to adjust upfront to 60fps.
Question though, sometimes one realises later that slomo would be nicer. What than? Sometimes one can not retake shots? Would it not be best to shot as high a framerate as possible? Downgrade should always be possible, but upgrade would be hard to do and result in poor quality.

Thanks again!

If everything else was same it would be good to always shoot 60p indeed - but unfortunately shooting 60p on the Mavics comes with a reduction in image quality, so you typically only want to use it when needed.
Try it and see if the quality difference matters for you...

Interesting.

Would the 48fps or 50fps be a good compromise?
Or is it better to stick with 30 and 60?

Sorry to bug you again.
