Range issues happening near places I fly.

So I live a near a school which is about 200 meters away from my home. I live in a pretty dense area in Long Island so I know the range will be limited. However, every time I fly near the school, about 50m away, the signal gets interrupted. But if I fly in a different direction, I can go over 1,000 meters away. So do they use any signal blocker or is there a geo zone near schools in general? Thanks.

Likely because they have some other devices such as WiFi working on the same frequency range.

It shouldn't be happening right now because the schools are closed though.

What does it show in AirMaps? Is the school geo-fenced?

School being closed doesn’t mean that their wireless routers are turned off. Most people leave their routers running 24x7

Have you looked for NFZ's?
Also you should only be flying VLOS which is mor most people 200 metres on open ground.

Unless they leave the offending equipment on 24/7. Does anyone turn off their WiFi router stuff when leaving home?
