And here is the old man again with his view on the range of the drone:
The range is, in most countries at least, so or so limited to you eyes. Condition is to fly VLOS (VISUAL Line of SIGHT) and so the range is limited by how good your eyes are. And there are several good reasons for this rule, one of them is, that it is not possible to really control the drone efficiently if you cannot see it - and believe me or not, I know what I am talking about.
For a beginner, like someone mentioned before, it is much more important (and probably saving money) if you start with all different kind of excercises on short distance. Fly forward, backwards, up to an object and pulling the drone up as you approach, the same flying backwards. Make smooth left and right turns, try to fly around an object without using the software etc. See what happens when you simply turn off the controller (if you dare) and so on.
I know, it is difficult, but even a mini is (for most people) not a thing you just simply use and if it crashes, you pick the next one. It took me with my
MA about twenty flights until I felt confident enough to try to fly to the point where I hardly was able to see the drone and then press RTH to see what would happen. Maybe you are more courageous, which is okay, but remember, every thing you do as a pilot reflects to all the other dronies, one stupid thing done by a single person can cause many other to suffer under new restrictions.
Flying a drone means having responsibility.
