Range

Hi getting more comfortable flying the mini but one issue I’ve come across is range. I maxed out the range in settings but walked across some fields and even though the drone was above me I keep running into maxed out range at 1000, despite being unlimited in settings.

any idea how to override?

Hi,

Do you own a CE or FCC one? Because you're located in London, i suppose it's CE (brexit will not change this ).
Did you force the frequency on 5Ghz or 2.4 Ghz?
Most important, do you put your phone in airplane mode?

I’m in Yorkshire at The moment and it’s a uk purchased product ( says uk on the box too )

haven’t changed the frequency and wasn’t in airplane mode....

just seems odd that I have specified unlimited range to keep getting stuck... and of course always at an interesting point ?

in the app it will give you distance and height settings for height you must set it to 400ft and distance you choose by using the slider 1000ft is roughly a kilometre i have mine set at 1648ft or 500m which is plenty far enough as you need to be in VLOS at all times

part of the issue here I think is that if you walk with it then it looks at the point of take off so I was getting max range whilst almost stood beneath it, also surprised it was saying max range when set to unlimited?

that is the reason it is from the take off point, if you use the propguards it is only 320 odd ft the same if you are in beginner mode try and fly from your home point and see what happens ,it could also have been geofencing as it detected a NFZ

Maybe try resetting your home point whilst in flight? Still, youd expect setting the range limit to infinity would mean it doesn't stop you going a long way from the home point.
