Recalibrate the Vision System?

Hello, received this message during last flight using Litchi.

I have seen some of the how to videos on the subject but have a few questions for those who have done this before.

Will I have to update firmware first? Since everything works well enough to fly I generally avoid updates since I use this for work and any hang ups or bricking result in lost income.

When I recalibrated the vision sensors I DID NOT update the firmware and my drone is or was probably at least one version out of date.

No need to update firmware before calibrating the vision sensors.

I have performed this a couple of times since I own my drone. Very easy process. Just follow the prompts.
 
No firmware is changed, just like calibrating the gimbal or the control sticks.
The most important thing about recalibrating the vision sensors is realizing that you keep the drone in the middle of the screen and rotate it toward the appropriate target area. You do not move the drone from target to target while pointing straight at the screen. Watch some videos to get the concept.
