Hello everyone,

Happy holidays to all. I’m new to the forum, and I just have 2 quick questions to ask. I registered my drone back in oct 2017 with the FAA. How long is the registration good for? And how would I go about printing out my certificate of registration, as I didn’t do that when I registered. Thanks in advance for your guidance.

First off happy Easter :)

You go to FAADroneZone

From there you can see your registration details and print a new card if needed.

My apologies. Will check forums moving forward.

Do you really have to register it ?
If you do Commercial work then the answer is obvious. If you have it for hobby purposes then yes, you are supposed to and if you get caught without it it's likely to cause problems for you later on. It also depends on where you are using it. Just like having a driver's license. If you live in the the middle of nowhere Missouri, you could start driving at 12 and as long as you drive the back roads, who cares. Try driving in town, and you'll get caught. Or more likely, if you cause an accident the they'll realize you're not registered and that's when they'll throw the book at you.

Its 5 bucks. If that's a big concern you have the wrong hobby. Try rock painting.

So as long as register today I should be okay if I don’t have my sticker yet? Going to a park for a Easter thing with the family don’t want any problem with local police I live in the country that’s why I never felt the need

Be sure to check the park regulations. Likely you won’t be able to land/take-off from park land. Local regs are often not legal by FAA rules, but you could still get nailed and have a ruined family outing.

The requirement is that your registration number is visible on the exterior of the aircraft. Use a label maker, or write it on a piece of tape with a sharpie and stick it somewhere visible. Make sure you check an airmap if you are going somewhere new. You dont want to find out you're in a restricted area.

Hello Carb63, more important than printing the FAA receipt, it is suggested that you get your FAA registration number (10 digit/letters), purchase a small adhesive sheet containing letters and numbers, and affix that FAA number to your aircraft. Also attaching your name and phone number is a good idea.

If you are looking at someone sending you a "sticker" then you might have registered on a $25 pay site. You only need to register yourself on the FAA site for $5.

You must display your registration on the exterior of the aircraft. Writing it on a piece of tape is enough. Recommend you have contact info somewhere in the event of crash or fly away. There are many commercially available stickers... FAA will send you a number, but not a sticker for mounting on drone.

Dumb question... if you visit the US and want to take your travel drone with you... should you register with the FAA too? I would think the answer is yes but if someone could confirm, it would be greatly appreciated.
