Nope. Nothing else you need to do.So last night I went onto the Drone zone and reported my Air2s's Remote ID to the FAA. Is there anything else I need to do that I am not thinking of? Do I need to turn anything on? Or is it already on?
Has to be registered with the Remote ID specific number (which is basically the drone's serial number prefixed with the compliance series number).I didn’t know you had to report your RID??? Did I miss something? If you have a registered Air2S, doesn’t the FAA already know it’s compliant?
No not really, people can intentionally hold their DJI Air 2S back at firmware 2190 or earlier and as such are not remote ID compliant, and they may choose to use a remote ID module instead for whatever reason if not flying in FRIA space.doesn’t the FAA already know it’s compliant?
Thank you Pixel. You probably saved me a lot of frustration. I will wait and watch for future posts that indicate everything is up and running. You may or may not have success in adding your RID at this time. You need access to an "edit" function which is not present for many people at this time. I recently was unable to edit my Air 2S and contacted the FAA. This is the reply I received:
Please stand by as we are modifying DroneZone to accommodate the make/model unique remote ID identifiers. Guidance will be forthcoming.
I await the answers to most of those questions as well. I don't have any solid answers to any of them but I have a couple of, "I thinks".What exactly broadcasts the location of the drone? Does the drone emit a signal like a transponder on an airplane, or does the controller emit a signal? How does the remote ID work and how far does the signal transmit? How much does it drain the battery if it is broadcasting from the drone or the remote? Does the control tower see this of an airport? Or does speciality programs the only programs the only things that can see the locations of the drones? I know that some of the drone modules coming out have a 4g lte capability on them, are these necessary for the future? I know I have quite a few questions, but I have a lot of questions.
