Welcome to the forum Tim. I've seen the Mavic Mini at COSTCO just like you describe it, right now it is 348.

Compared to the cheap drones like the Syma models, especially those that don't have altitude hold, you'll love the MM1.

Altitude stability
GPS and vision stability
3 axis gimbal
2.7K resolution video stored to an on board SD card (card not included)
Enhanced WiFi RC/AC communication
Return To Home - triggered manually, when battery level gets close to point of no return, or default option for loss of signal

Just note that despite having all the base technology of the big boys, it's wind resistance isn't as high as the big boys. Definitely better than cheap drones by far, but don't get complacent. If in doubt, cautiously test it out, low and slow.

Welcome to the Forum dustym and I recommend the Mavic Mini it's a great beginner drone to learn and explore this new hobby. I have seen them for sale under $300 but if you want to just go all out Mavic 2 Pro is the best that I have owned.
