This isnt my bird, but one that came in for repairs.
Its just dirt buildup

Well, my first thought was, what should the average drone user do to clean this or even know that this condition even exist? I am not about to start opening up my Mavic 3. I try to fly clean (e.g.landing pad, avoid sand and dusty take off platforms). How would I even know I have this going on inside my drone?

This is definitely not the norm. Inspect your aircraft on a regular basis (before/after every flight) and you'll never see this in your fleet.
