Small village of Villaflores at drone eye's view
A round hole in the facade of the main house of Villaflores betrays that time has stopped. There is no longer the clock, because someone has stolen it, as there is no bell in the small church whose doors are forced and receive the visitor to show a gallery of latest generation graffiti. The town of Villaflores is a decadent scene where the centuries-old architectures are decorated with more typical urban environments, with walls fenced in and overpowered by thistles and weeds and roads dotted with filth: rusted cans, plastics, trash ...
The pill of bricks that rise among the lush green vegetation draw profiles in complicated balance that intend to continue going through two-story houses. The dovecote, circular in shape, lifts its silhouette without bites, as if it were trying to maintain the dignity that other buildings have already lost, ruling as a turret an esplanade from which the high-speed train passes. It seems that the roads mark the border between Villaflores and Valdeluz, past and future, cities born from nothing to fulfill dreams of times tremendously remote among themselves, although they are hardly separated by a century.
This agricultural colony was specifically the dream of the Duchess of Seville, benefactor of the city of Guadalajara to whom is owed, also, the extraordinary complex of Adoratrices. There is very little left of that dream that its architect, the brilliant Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, turned into reality. The abandonment, with its erosions, but also the vandalism, with the thefts of materials or the games without consideration of the young people that for generations until there have approached, aggravate a situation of ruin that the most sensitive voices already denounced thirty years ago.
