Do I need to hotspot from my phone to set my homepoint before I fly? Took a few flights with a new SC and realized I didn’t hear the homepoint audio message you usually get just after the props spin up. If so, what’s the fastest way to connect to my hotspot every time.

go into the setting and be sure the homepoint is set to be where you start the drone. then make sure the volume is turned up on the remote. also if your hotspot is already turned on phone before you start setting up and powering on the remote. the remote will auto connect as its turning on

nope no Wifi is needed. i made sure it was turned off on my smart remote.

No .. all your drone needs to record its home point is the GPS receiver DJI put in it and a clear view of the sky.

Using the smart controller also I have noted a similar behaviour
.
With volume on, sometimes the smart controller does not announce the
message despite full gps signals.
The reason in my eyes is unclear.

I never had this using the controller with the phone.

The only time I use my phone as a hot spot for my smart Controller is if I want maps.
