I recently was gifted 2 3000mah 3s batteries. I have the battery clip. I charged them full, then went to do a hover test. They shut down the Mavic battery and began to charge it. Can anyone offer any insight into if this is normal? Should I not fully charge the batteries?

The Mavic battery is 11.4 volts 3830mah, and if I have two batteries that both power more than 12 volts, they will automatically start to charge the Mavic battery? I am afraid to let it run like that, and burn up the internal of the Mavic. I really don’t know what to do to remedy this

Good point. Non DJI Lipos will allow you to charge them to 4.3 or more per cell, so total voltage might be 12.9 or 13v. The DJI Intelligent Flight Battery will shut off at 4.2vpc.

Your original suggestion of not charging the external cells to 4.2vpc would be a good start. Those are easy to monitor individual cell voltage because the charger actually shows the current vpc on the display when balance charging them. Maybe discharge them to 4.0vpc, should only take a few minutes, and see what happens.

My charger doesn’t discharge, I’ll have to let them power the Mavic till they run down. Unless there is a better safer way to do so

That is how I do it only take a couple of minutes. Just keep trying mavic battery until it stays on . It'll work better if you use the aftermarket charger, it gets mavic battery up to 4.35 better than the original charger. Even a little more if you know the trick to get it to over charge the battery a little( you can find out how on YouTube) . And yes u can fully charge the externals they should both be at 4.35. I do it often. good luck bro

I’m guessing the over charge trick is to power on the battery after it is fully charged according to the battery...while it’s on the charger. Is that correct?

You have to run the battery down to 99% than turn it on an hookup to charger. It will keep charging after the charger light turns green for about 10minutes leave it hooked up until it goes out completely. Only charges it to about 4.36 but works good with older batteries to get a full charge

Ok that reads slightly confusing. So... a battery that’s charged to 100%? Bring that down to 99%? Turn it on and put it on a charger?

It works for me every time if i run it to 99% and turn on before you plug it up to the charger with mavic 1 of course. Don't remember where I saw video it has been a while . I got most of what I know from old threads on this board
