The cover story in this week's issue of Nature magazine describes the development of insect-sized (a few centimeters) flying robots (I have attached a review of the work). Developed at Harvard, they fly using four flapping wings, and are powered by solar cells (albeit requiring high light intensity). This is proof of concept and yet to be developed is a flight control system, etc. Nevertheless, this points to future, radically different drone designs.

I’ve said for years that one day, the old saying, “I’d like to be a fly one the wall,” is going to come true.

You better not be the fly if my wife is near. Then you would probably be the remains of a fly at the wall :)

Check out the Flir Black Hornet.

Reality: distant future seems to be something like DJI Phantom 4 pro v2.0 but folding. Real 4K/60 folding Mavic (Air) size drone with decent night fotos.

Take my 1800 € with 2 batteries immediately !

Lack of competition? DJI could easily do it, but why to bother.
