I had credited Vic Moss for knowing more about the situation(s), and having a better finger on the pulse of the anti-DJI momentum than anybody else. He's measured and rational. BUT, for the last 18 months or so, everything he's said has been unlikely to happen...has happened. Time and time again the momentum against DJI (and Autel) has been sustained. Every time we got to a point where there was a worst that could happen, it has generally happened

every time people have argued that the next step would be irrational and nonsensical responses by the Feds, that next step was taken

so, I'm sure not counting on reason and logic to barge into the room over the next month, or even over the next few years.

Even DJI can read the tea leaves better than Vic.

DJI's Adam Welsh is Head of Global policy, putting him right at the top of the company's interaction with governments around the world, asked about the ban,

"So, we're we're coming up on crunch time, like literally, we're at the point where we're we're only weeks away from this becoming, you know, like a fait accompli kind of thing. Yeah." LOL!

Has anyone considered a class action law suit against the entities who want to implement a ban? Make them prove their case and justify the ban, and compensate those who have invested millions of dollars into the devices, and the lost revenue of those who use their drones for business earnings.

He said this to counter our concerns about the possibility the FCC may revoke previously granted licensing which would ground all existing DJI products in the U.S..

Vic, even you shook your head as though you heard something incredulous when you told us the FCC “granted itself the power…..”. And now, you are asking us to believe the current administration is incapable of engaging in “out of their minds” behavior?

History speaks for itself Vic and reasonable people agree this administration is quite capable of mindless behavior. And finally, suggesting resorting civil disobedience, doesn’t give anyone a warm fuzzy feeling either.

We have three choices:

The pessimist complains about the wind.
The optimist hopes it will change.
The realist adjusts the sails.

I think it's a reasonable opinion and definitely a possible outcome. But the government can and will do whatever it wants if people quietly stand by and let it happen.

One of the points that he made was very good. DJI isn't going to brick any drones because it will scare off customers in other countries. There are no valid reasons to brick existing drones.

Vic's point was not missed - we all know what we don't know. Nonetheless, he also speculates albeit with some educated guesses. The point I make is that to the extent Vic's premises are based upon "no one in their right minds would...." his premises are weak. This administration has repeatedly demonstrated it is quite capable of promulgating horrific administrative orders

I think the way this administration would implement a revocation of existing licenses is by carving out an outright exception for first responders. Alternatively, it could simply delay the implementation for first responders to replace their fleets. That way, it could shift the blame onto the local agencies who, "had plenty of time to update their fleets." It is a very simple blame shifting gambit which this administration has mastered.

I agree - no one KNOWS but I also believe buying a DJI drone at this point in time as Vic has suggested, is not sound fiscal advice.

At a minimum, if you sign onto a class action lawsuit, you'll find you and your family member's name on a government watch list for potentially supporting, aiding, and proving material support to a foreign adversary and at worse acting as a foreign agent....and so on. Next time you try to board a plane, you might find yourself flagged on the No Fly List or when you attempt to buy certain items No Fly No Buy. Need a government loan, stopped at a traffic stop with any amount of currency in your car, day trip to Canada or Mexico....? And it spreads from there; no thank you.

I think this is why the government is trying to encourage alternate sources and suppliers. Dependence creates vulnerability.

Sad to say, this is not a good time for drone enthusiasts! Just as crime fighters often say “see something, say something,” well, let’s use that analogy to the drone restrictions. We are seeing our Senators and Representatives (either taking action or refusing to), so everyone who cares about drones must “say something!” Speak our minds to our congressional delegations, to the FCC, to the media. Be loud, be respectful, be peaceful, be focused, but keep saying something! As we have seen in past public outcries against unpopular decisions, it usually takes millions of bodies or focused voices to bring about change. I am not so naïve as to expect another “Million Man March” at the footsteps of the Capitol, but at least let them hear our voices! Again and again and again!

I rarely see people addressing why the government wants to ban drones. Of the 3 largest manufacturers, two are banned for being foreign and the single domestic shakes hands with the government to make drones for them, then coincidentally stops making them for consumers? People say backroom deals are trying to eliminate competition for citizen consumers and yet no-one is sincerely trying to step up to DJI's plate for consumers?

I've taken it for granted that a certain situation in Ukraine has made the government not want its citizens to have highly capable drones, the scent of the second amendment is in the air.
