This Hacker Tool Can Pinpoint a DJI Drone Operator’s Exact Location Every DJI quadcopter broadcasts its operator’s position via radio—unencrypted. Now

HA! The SDR (Software Defined Radio) they use in the project is north of $1,300 bucks! I bet the average Joe is willing and able to throw that scratch on their credit card to see if by chance a drone "pilot" is nearby. LOL!

The HackRF might be able to do this, but unless SDRs capable of receiving this band and can scan a massive 50 MHz of bandwidth lower in price, I'm afraid most won't see your drone at all.

So you should be good to go on the privacy front unless it's the Feds.

There really is no distinction in the eyes of the FAA. If that is in deed correct then I would think privacy issues don't apply if it's in the air.

That's pretty much it, but I wonder, just wonder if the FAA is willing to go after my aerial balloon filled with fart? :D
