GUY's was only way I knew to do this so sorry,This is Tom's first post . Had to start thread for him .
@TomB67
I purchased a Mavic Air 3 weeks ago. I thought I researched the life out of it and I spent hours studying use etc via you tube before I took it flying. Last Thursday I thought I would try some bay shots. I calibrated the UMI and compass, updated the latest firmware, completed the flight pre-check and confirmed I had GPS home set and started on 13 satellites. I was getting updates on my screen to say my sensors were not functioning. I started to hit return to home approx 5.29min into the fight but the aircraft would not respond, the gimbal just malfunctioned and set itself looking straight down. At that stage I had 60% battery. The drone continued to head away from me. I tried at least 4-5 times to return to home to no response. A couple of nerve wrecking minutes later it announced it was low on battery and was returning to home on its own accord. I was relieved and did not touch any controls or attempt to navigate further. The craft got to about 420mt away from me and started to spin uncontrollably, I attempt to straighten it up and it started to drop height (again without my input). At 222mt away from me, and with 8% battery still live, it just dropped into the sea. My findme app for the drone tells me it is -6mt. I have tried to swim out in shark infested Morteon Bay to attempt to retrieve it, but no luck. I have spoken to DJI who have asked me to fill out forms etc. which I have done. Does anyone have any idea what is likely to happen (if anything) - I was really enjoying drone flying and looking forward to sharing video etc. I am leaving for the States in just under 3 weeks and my dream was to take this with me. I'm gutted!

Hey @TomB67 Mate we have the worlds best Analysts on this site, so primarily we have your account of the goings on, secondary, we need your flight logs...
Look here.....DJI Flight Log Viewer
Thanks heaps guys. Basically, I have checked and double checked my flight log, trying to figure out if I did anything wrong, or was just a hitch these things have. I'll try to upload the flight log for you now.

Hi guys, here's a link to the flight record page,
Airdata UAV - Flight Data Analysis for Drones
not sure if that's something you can get into. Other than that, it wont let me upload anything - states does not have an allowed extension. Does anyone know what would be an allowed extension?
You tried uploading to @Simmo's link? That would definitely be preferable to Airdata, as there are more details available.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean?
I just looked at the Airdata log and it doesn't look good for your Mavic. It looks like you flew out almost 5000 feet with several high wind warnings showing up on the way. You turned around at about 50% battery power and tried to make it home, again there were wind warnings and several low battery warnings. It looks like it auto-landed due to critically low battery at the last recorded point. Sorry man, it looks like it's gone:(.Screen Shot 2018-04-11 at 1.42.09 PM.png

Hi guys, thank you for all your help and patience, I do appreciate it.
Here is my flight record below.
And my answer from DJI.

1. The aircraft worked under GPS mode in the flight;

2. T=01:16, h=38.0 m, d=78.9 m, the app warned that there was strong wind;

3. T=08:12, h=119.9 m, d=1453.7 m, there was no pilot’s input but the aircraft tilted 13.8 degrees forward when it was hovering, which indicated that there was strong wind affecting the aircraft;

4. T=10:34, h=120.0 m, d=895.1 m, the aircraft was under RTH mode while the RTH speed decreased to 6.6 m/s due to the wind;

5. T=11:40, h=120.1 m, d=427.4 m, battery 14%, Landing was triggered due to Critical Low Battery;

6. T=12:47, h=-5.7 m, d=221.2 m, the record ended. The last coordinate: -27.2593371 153.0986641.

According to the analysis, the incident was caused by improper flight environment. Please do not fly in high-wind condition.

Thanks again to you guys, I will try to retrieve the bird at extreme low tide. Nothing more I can do.

Cheers to all.

Sounds right. Good luck finding it at low tide, hope the currents haven’t moved it too much. Do you have Care Refresh?

Hi MavicCF, no i don't have care refresh but I will get it on my replacement.
Thanks again.
Cheers
Tom

AirData is fine provided that permission is enabled to download the original flight log. In this case it wasn't though.
Yeah I figured that out once I downloaded it (see my post #8). Plenty there for to figure out what happened.-CF

Amazing how the story and the logs can differ. Just how windy out there was it? I think the first thing to mention was how far out the bird was.

Just realized that I confused this thread with another (the log is the correct one though). I’ll have to go back and verify the OP’s story. However, I do know that RTH does appear to have working correctly and tried to bring it home with low battery.

That looks to be correct based on the track and notifications. The wind was not favorable though - 20 - 25 mph out of the ESE.

You can download the csv, but not the original log file. It returns "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this file".
Doesn't RC elevator usually range from -10,000 to 10,000? The baseline here seems to be at 1024 and doesn't really change from that throughout the flight. The maximum pitch of 25* is never attained until RTH is initiated.
