I added combiners to the tip of the amps so I can use both directional and omni's. I will be testing it later today.
@The Bob
Did the new mod make much difference?
Thanks for all your help with the boosted set up @The Bob, Very similar to yours and others but this is the set up so far....
@The Bob that's looking awesome!I did the same to mine... more compact now. Great idea and did not noticeably affect amp performance.
Can you use combiners to use omnidirectional and directional at the same time!?@TheBob that's looking awesome!
Unfortunately I can't take credit for putting the amps on the back of the antenna, someone else had done it first ?.
The omni's look a great addition to the whole design.
Off on a tangent quickly, I very nearly lost my Mavic last week to a angry Seagull, it somehow dropped 80m and recovered, how I have no clue..
Do you get signal loss when you are close to the drone with the amps on? I seem to have to land mine around 10ft way and OK then.
@The Bob has both installed and working well I think? Can you use combiners to use omnidirectional and directional at the same time!?

The omni's look a great addition to the whole design - One, quick question - Do you get signal loss when you are close to the drone with the amps on? I seem to have to land mine around 10ft way to stop this happening, I wonder if the audition of Omni's will cure it?

.
Confirmed. That is what I am doing. Works very well. Can you use combiners to use omnidirectional and directional at the same time!?
Strangely it's only happened since I started using the amps, didn't used to do it with just the 4hawks installed...I do not get any issues with or without the directional antenna: I usually land only a few feet away. Never lost signal. Check your left antenna connections / perhaps pinched within the controller? Also... sorry to hear about the bird strike... scary! Glad it recovered!
I would double check your amp direction... make sure the SMA connectors from the controller are both going IN the amps and also that the antenna are on the OUT connector of the amps. Other than a wiring issue or a bad wire, I am not sure what could be happening. Try swapping things around and use only the left side and see if it still happens.Strangely it's only happened since I started using the amps, didn't used to do it with just the 4hawks installed...
What exactly do they call the combiner on that website? I searched combiner, didn’t get anything. Is a splitter the same thing? Lol what do YOU use?
It's strange, at all range it's OK but closer than say 6ft it sometimes drops the connection. All seems wired up correctly... Battery mod next ??I would double check your amp direction... make sure the SMA connectors from the controller are both going IN the amps and also that the antenna are on the OUT connector of the amps. Are you using a Mavic Air or a Mavic Pro/Plat?@The Bob I think I might copy your antenna set up with the omni's to see if I can stop the signal drop at close range.
@The Bob AirAre you using a Mavic Air or a Mavic Pro/Plat?
I run a Mavic Pro so may work differently if you use an Air.
I would be curious to see how the Air signaling works. Is left antenna RX and right TX? or do they both do rx and tx?
No I haven't tried that yet, I'll be interested to find out like you say what each antenna does on the air..I would be curious to see how the Air signaling works. Is left antenna RX and right TX? or do they both do rx and tx?
On the Mavic Pro the left is RX/TX and the right side is diversity.
It could be possible that your right and left sides could be amplifying rf "noise" and causing a loop/interference when the AC and RC are too close.
Have you tried putting an amp on just 1 side and see if it fixes it?
