Trying to figure out how to get the Air 2S in the DJI Fly app to lock on to something and just hover / rotate with it, not follow it

its aviation related, am trying to get the Air 2S to lock on to the plane while hovering but not getting any closer to it.

yes ATC knows, yes i have a clearance, yes there is ample separation, yes it will be LOS.

The way follow works is that it is usually programmed for people or a vehicle (car). Anything other than that is iffy to track at best. If it's on the ground you could do a spotlight or POI possibly but actual tracking is generally limited to people and vehicle shapes. Even then it may have problems without adequate contrast between the background and subject.

Let me save you some time, Its not going to work, it wont work with another drone in the Air very well let alone an airplane. The technology is just not there yet, On my drone following another drone about 8 seconds.
