I just spent the better part of one hour trying to upgrade my M3. It was a great humbling but learning experience for me. I am no computer genius. but a bit better than the average man on the street, and a little bit lower than most of you guys here on this superb forum.
Here is what I learned;
It was not automatic! I did not get an alert or notice when I turned on my RC Pro and M3 as one of you had mentioned and as I had hoped. Oh, no, that would be too easy.
I needed to upgrade all three (3) things! The DJI Assistant 2, the Mavic 3, and the RC Controller each separately. At first I tried to upgrade from my old DJI Assistant 2 and it did not seem to work.
Please note, you cannot do the upgrade to get the new Waypoints with the old DJI Assistant 2 app.
So I needed to do the following;
1, DJI Assistant 2. from 1.90 to V2.1.15 from the DJI Downloads site under Mavic 3
2. Mavic 3 plugging into the computer with the new DJI Asst 2 open- download and install aircraft from 01.00.0900 to 01.00.1000
3. RC Pro Controller- plugged into the computer with the DJI Assist 2 open- download and install from V03.01.1100 to V 03.01.1200
The downloads and the installations were two separate progress blue bars.
Any problems along the way? YES. You bet!
I learned that first I had to uninstall the old DJI Assistant 2. Secondly, My MAC did not want to let me install the new app because they named it an un-recognized party. I had to FORCE my MAC to accept it. (click -install anyway). Apple made me constantly enter my password.
Both the RC pro and the M3 had to be on all the time.
After all of this, I took my bird outside and launched it and lo and behold the new waypoint icon was on my screen, and my screen under "about" had all the new numbers. Aircraft 01.00.1000;RC 03.01.1200, DJI Asst 2 V2 1.15
Yeah!
