US Customs duty on batteries from China?

Hi. Don't really want to get into a debate on the quality of Chinese manufacturing, or geopolitics.... Just have a question about customs duties on AliExpress deliveries to the US.

I'm looking at some cells to rebuild my batteries and only place I can find them is AliExpress. Does anyone know if AliExpress deliveries get stopped by customs and how I then pay any fees? Is there a value threshold under which stuff is waived through? I'm getting them sent to a forwarding address so it's a bit complicated. What have your experiences been?

I have never purchased batteries from them, but have bought several other items and the only thing is you will wait a long time to get whatever you buy. 'Slow boat from China'.
