Using a iPad with the mini 2

I'm getting my new Mini 2 next week, and just discovered that my phone (Samsung A10) will not work with the fly app. 32 bit and not listed on the Mavic website. I cannot afford to get another phone and plan BUT I do have an iPad 6.25" x 9.5" (7th gen, lots of memory) and have seen that there are holders that would accommodate it. But, it connects to WiFi, of course, but cannot get data without an internet connection.

My main question is can it get all necessary info (including maps and find my drone) or will some features be unavailable to me? Anything else I should know?

You don’t need a data/internet connection to fly. But you could use you phone as a WiFi hotspot and then connect your iPad to the phone to get data/internet.
