Temps in the 90’s with feel like over 100, would you fly in these conditions with your older drones or even you new ones?

I’m glad I posted this as similar threads on heat opened up for me.

Biggest issue will be overheated screens on iPhone or iPads. Be sure and fly from underneath shade to protect them from going dark, losing your video feed and access to the app. You will still have full control over the drone through the sticks and RTH on the RC, so keep the drone within VLOS so you can navigate safely back around without the video feed.

It wasn't my drone affected by heat but the phone. With the DJI FPV you need to connect a mobile phone to the goggles with a cable for RID. Works fine and the phone was getting super hot by the 6th drone battery. When I went to handle the phone, it was too hot to hold and I set it down on the back side on the pavement. I heard all kinds of cracking so I guess the heat transfer was too fast and the glassy backside is completely shattered. Everything still works but now I need to get a phone case because there are shards. It's an unactivated Tripltek Mini that I use for this setup only because the screen is super bright in case I want to use it as a monitor.

I flew two batteries down to 24% with three minutes between flights on the Mavic 3 Pro today in central Alabama. 91 F. No problems.

That "feels like" temperature is increased above the normal dry-bulb temperature to account for the effect of humidity on human bodies. It may be relevant to you, but the drone doesn't care.

Here where I live about an hour’s drive north of Toronto, we had a temperature of 34C (93F) for most of the day and the last few days have been the same.

Its always hot here just keep my batteries in the shade.

All very good points to keep in mind. I’m leaning more towards early morning flights with my MA2 now simply because the batteries are the oldest of the group and still in good shape. Not to mention the mini 5 iPad I use for control. I always have to use a Hoodman base (just the base) to shield the light from the sun to keep the display set lower, it also gets very hot in the sun.

I've had the same issue with the phone when flying in hot Utah weather, but my current problem is that all six of my M2P batteries are showing slight (some more than slight) swelling.

Flew a Drone Deploy mission on my MP2 with no shade and a heat index of 105 near St. Joseph, MO. Received heat warnings from my drone when I brought it back to change batteries, but no heat warnings in flight. No problems with the Samsung Galaxy S24+ screen during the 56 min mission. Lots of water and kept the spare batteries cool(er) in the car.

If the heat index is over 90 dg F, I won't fly or use my RC cars. I don't think those temps are good for either electronics or batteries, and I also don't like being outside in those temperatures.

Yeah. I bought one new one. Resisting more because of the price, but I will have to get at least one more.

An air temperature of 80 F with 70% relative humidity represents a heat index of 90. So does 81.3 F with 90% RH.

Those temperatures aren't going to affect the hardware.

True, but its still just to uncomfortable out for me, I guess my rule of thumb is if its too hot out for me its too hot out for anything expensive. I don't understand how you southerners do it.

In any case, the one time I tried flying one of my drones in hotter temps ( ambient was 95 dg F without factoring in humidity ), I got a high temperature warning after about 15-20 minutes. I don't remember if it was a DJI or potensic though.

When I reached the age of 40 I’d had enough and moved to the midwest from south Texas heat.
