What is the advantage of using 2.7k video. When I did the editing in Windows video maker it converted the result to 1080HD. Will the result be different than recording in 1080HD in the first place?

If you're just downsizing 2.7K to 1080p with the same field of view, then it doesn't matter much whether the camera or the editor does it, but 2.7K will give you more flexibility, e.g.: digital panning and zooming; higher resolution still frames and panoramas from video; and the possibility of upgrading your editor to one that will render 2.7K.

There are many other factors to consider . Firstly your editing suite will more than likely render your video at 1080p maximum. You may have to purchase a better editing software that will give you the option of 2.7k and upto 4K and some suites will let you render 8k video . Secondly , it depends on what you watch your videos on . If you want to see your 2.7k rendered video to its highest quality, then you will need your monitor or tv to be 2.7k compatible . That also applies to 4K too . If you have a 4K monitor or tv then your 2.7k will also playback at the quality you recorded in the first instance. So to put it more simply, you need a editing suite that allows you to render 2.7k and a monitor Or tv with 2.7k compatibility .
