Hi All,
i've watched several YT clips regarding waypoint creation on the RC Controlller with the Mini4 not powered on however i get a message popup saying Aircraft Not In Flight. Unable to create waypoint. This happens regardless of whether or not the drone is powered on. Running latest firmware update. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or lost the functionality with latest firmware.

Cheers Graeme

I believe they can be created on a PC and uploaded to the RC controller. Or while you are flying. I know it can be dangerous creating a waypoint if you haven't scouted the area. Looks great on map, but what if someone puts an obstacle that the map doesn't show. Plus power lines, or tower cables, etc.

Did you buy the drone new?....or from someone else?....If new, I would contact DJI. If from someone else, go into the waypoints flight library and remove any existing flights that may be stored...not very scientific, but a starting point . ...Then try all over by tapping the squiggly line...are you using the button under the controller to add the waypoints?

The answer to this is simple (and incredibly bone-headed, DJI): You have to power up and create your first WP mission in flight.

After that, the little WP button on the display will be visible on the LH of the display, and you can make WP missions offline without the drone powered up.

You don't even have to fly that first mission, just create it. Launch in your backyard, go up 50ft, set a WP, go 30 ft some direction, set another WP, come home and land. Now you have full offline WP functionality.

I'm not aware of any tool on the PC for creating DJI Fly waypoint missions. Please share!

I figured it out. If drone is not airborne, you can only plan your mission by tapping the map with your finger (makes sense when you think about it) Once airborne you can use the C1 button or tap the + button to create/add waypoints.

Here's a start.
I have the premium version. But now, all of a sudden, it's not working right. Plots route 1000s of feet off. Does anyone know how to get support?

The guy who came up with that posted it on here a month or 2 ago....I could not figure out how to use it at all...if you need help, ask on his youtube video...although he is not very responsive...if you can't get a response that way, go to the link he offers to sign up...this link is where he first posted...hope it helps you

Droning, where was the waypoint access BEFORE it appeared on the left for you? I don't see it on my app. I have used waypoint/hyperlapse, so know how to get tot those settings, but have not seen the squiggly icon, except on YT videos....

Thanks!

It's a Mavic Air 2. And I have never seen that icon on my app, so guessing it may not offer it. Interesting: I just took a short flight to try out the hyperlapse/circle mode and it wanted me to update the app. There's a new icon in that same space. Kind of a diamond? I will have to experiment a bit to see what function it is...
Thx for replying and the help!

UPDATE: The new icon is like a little north-pointing arrow, surrounded by a segmented hexagon. It appears to be a control to allow me to turn obstacle avoidance off on the sides (and maybe front and back also?). That could be helpful sometime, but I would prefer access to the waypoint mode, instead...

Air 2 does not support the general waypoint feature in DJI Fly. Supported drones are Mavic 3, Air 3, and Mini 4 Pro.
Appreciate your confirmation. One of my biggest challenges when looking at a first drone was sorting out the many combinations of features, range, flight times, etc. I have not seen a good resource on the DJI web page for doing comparisons. Did I miss it? I would like to see which provide "follow me", waypoints, all-round obstacle detection, and so forth. I ended up getting the MA2 because a friend/neighbor has one and I figured "tech help nearby!". Ha ha.
Thanks again for your info. Liking this forum so far.
