What's a good dropping device?

Looking to drop bait while offshore fishing.

Here's some products.

Most work with the auxiliary landing light of the aircraft to activate.

I have seen something as simple as a picture hook attached to the bottom of a SPARK drone that seemed to work.

Fly out, keeping tension on the line, and then "hit the brakes" to allow the line to slide from the picture hook.

It may work depending on the weight of the bait?

OP asked about dropping bait- I’d think he meant a hopper type unit that drops bait pellets?

I want to use one of those to drop wildflower seeds in a programmed pattern to make a message.

If a baited hook / line is meant, Gannet is probably the original drop system developed for drones.

Go Drone Fishing with the waterproof Gannet Pro, DJI and other drones

As per @MA2 317 post above, a simple hook can work with the right flying technique / conditions.

Be aware with any device, triggered or otherwise, the forces of line out in wind or weight over distance can be very hazardous to drone flight.
Braid line might be worth switching to, if not already using it.

If it will fit your drone try to get one that activates by your drones light and not one with a separate little unit with a button those are junk IMO

I got the $50 Hanatora dual dropper for my Mavic 2 Pro. Just tested it out with dropping up to 1 pound of sand. It worked quite well, but I noticed that the remote control somehow changed in between flights. I had programmed the C1 button just like the instructions indicated, but that quit working. Since I was shooting video of the drop, I was switching video on and off and when I reviewed my footage, I noticed that I did not capture 2 of my drops. The C1 button stopped responding and starting and stopping the video triggered the drop mechanism. Any insight on what happened? Also, this $50 mechanism is ok for testing, but if I am doing a job, I would like to have something a bit more professional and reliable.

This is one of the better drop setups.
