Why do my Litchi cached maps disappear?

I need to cache maps as my tablet does not have Internet access. A few days ago, I cached some maps in Litchi but now they're gone. I remembered that I had to turn off my tablet and turn it on again a couple of days ago to clear a glitch, so is this what wiped the maps off? Do you have to keep a phone or tablet permanently switched on in order to keep a cached map?

Yes, the cache clears when you turn it off. Use your phone hot spot in the field.

Neither my iPad Air 2 or Mavic Smart Controller lose the cache.
Although my iPad requested to open google maps, which it did via the cellular service.
But they are not "tablets" so maybe my experience is invalid.
