Why does DJI ask for flight records?

So I just read the pdf DJI sent me about syncing flight records. My records are set to sync all the time. So wouldn't DJI know they already have the records they're asking me for?

Why would DJI do that? Sounds like a Phishing expedition to me.

Probably because the OP has opened a case about his various drone losses. They (DJI) will want to make sure they have all the data they can get from the RC as both drones are total losses.

Not necessarily, they probably only go through flight data if they are trying to find the cause of a loss, (or the PRC Army have asked them for some specific information).

If that's linked to your drone losses, they'll want them to determine if the loss was caused by a defect of the product or by operator error.

It is a standard part of their protocols whenever a claim is filed. It may be redundant, and it may not. The front line support people requesting the manual syncing likely don't also have access to your flight records. Their job is to prepare the case file for evaluation by the engineers, whether you automatically sync your flight records or not. Manual syncing covers both cases.

Automatic syncing also requires internet access and that the remote be powered on. Unless you have independently turned on the remote while it had internet access after the loss, the remote still hasn't yet synced your last flight. Manually syncing will force the last flight upload, by turning the remote on, and ensuring internet access.

It is also possible that the last automatic flight log was corrupted, and manually resyncing it may recover it.
