Mavic Pro Battery Mod

I've been toying with how I wanna do the mod. I want to run dual batteries on the sides. I do not want to use a power clip and do not want holes on the top. So what I'm thinking is small holes on the bottom in one of two spots:

I'll cut out a small piece of support from inside to run the wire, and drill a hole in the body for the wires to go through.

And in the end, it will look similar to this. I haven't drilled the holes or soldered yet, thats the next step.I'm hoping to have just the xt60 connector sticking out, all wire inside and will glue the wire in place on the inside. This will allow folding it up as well as not having dangling wires when not using externals. Might paint the yellow tips black to match. Thoughts on placement of the wires? I am a tad worried about rubbing on those black ribbons when i pull the plug off, but will glue it pretty well in place to stop that.

Hmmm, my battery clip mod is working well today. I wonder if the solder I put on around the contact point is seeping in, or perhaps it's the good weather today with low wind. Had 30 minutes flight with 74,000 feet distance and 1640ft altitude gain up the foothills. This is with my single 5200mah battery. No range test today, just flying around the area. If it works this well, I may not need to modify further. Just need another 6000ft distance to reach my goal of 40,000ft range and 80,000 total distance. I think I can do it with my dual 4000mah batteries. Hate flying with that much weight, but on a no wind day, should give me over 34 minutes flight time at 32mph.

Nice! Test flght time Great job, My battery clip make it and tested fly works fine. Hover vs Move/flying same flight time is 30mins and means low wind?.. no way, if much wind small flight time?

5200mah and Dual 2 x 3000mah packs is heavy.. I wanted dual batterys mod for lightweight like Phantom 3 dual 6600mah mod is upto 40mins think better lightweight and more flight time for mavic.

SO can i ask.......think out of the box................why is everyone trying to get all that wire in the mavic, use your spots, but just use one red and one black, and use dual adapter outside mavic, instead of crowding the poor mavic with 4 big wires..make all connections outside her

or flat stock brass or copper to just make it past body, and solder on wires outside body, no knockouts.......fit right under top shell

Agree but somewher here somebody had flush mount connector fit flush with body no wires showing.

I have pic. Just don't know how to put it on here.

Looked back on this thread you had the connector I was talking about, post 263 guess it didn't work.

Thought I would share some more pics.

I think the batteries might be too far to the rear. Check the motor temperatures after flying. You may find the rear motors are hotter. They are also partially blocking the gps receiver. Otherwise looks good.

The batteries are on strip of 3m lock velcro and can be positioned forward or backwards to suit different sizes as well, but no issues at all with flying or gps, most of the time it is with compass calibration when first starting up with the battery mod backpack alone(no batteries), so really no noticeable difference. I tried flying but was @ a bad location to fly so I just hovered it about a 50ft circle for 26 mins with 4mph winds, holding strong with power (such a waste of a test period) but updated to the newest firmware .700 and didn't really want to take it out my sight. Will do more testing this weekend.

Are you have any trouble with GPS or compass calibration with the bigger battery on top?

Nice test, great time. That should be a 45k+ flight in theory with low wind.
