Using Tripod mode through woods / over water

I want to film a stream near us, in local woods, about 12" above the babbling water and (small) water falls. Also capture the snowdrop flowers along the bank. I'm thinking of changing signal loss to 'hover', turning off downward sensors and using Tripod. Should I think of / do anything else. This is a trial run for my trip to some proper waterfalls / streams / woods up in the mountains later this year. I know the safe answer is don't do it but I really want to get this type of shot, especially with ND filters.

Agreed, keep downward sensors on, i filmed quite low over a mountain stream yesterday and had no issues with downward sensors on
