Cannibalizing the FPV technology from my older Mavic Pro for fixed wing RC...

I have been thinking about cannibalizing the camera/FPV parts from my older Phantom 2, Phantom Pro and/or Mavic Pro to be mounted to other kinds of radio-controlled aircraft. Does anyone have thoughts on this? Do you think it is feasible to remove the motors, props, frame and other items not...

    Smart Controller review

I have to throw in my 2 cents just in case DJI is taking notes; When I first saw this product advertised, I was immediately interested. However, the cost didn't seem to be in line with the value added to the equipment I use on a regular basis. I am a DJI user for many years since the DJI F550...

Payload Release Latch (timed or remote-controlled)

I am curious if there is a recommended payload release latch for the Mavic (either timed or remotely controlled). I know of some release latches that have been used for the Mavic but those I know about are kludgy, bulky and often limited to close proximity. I am looking for a very simple device...

Ran into my first ***hole today

I have to reply to this thread due to the similarity of my experience yesterday, with a twist; Yesterday I was out of state visiting a State Fair Grounds (not during the fair event, of course) that I used to go to as a kid. I actually lived a couple blocks away from it when I was in grade...

    Defaulting to SD Card

If you're like me, you might be wondering where the camera settings are. The three odd looking lines below the shutter button on the main iPhone DJIGo4 screen bring up the "camera settings. Billy Kyle is a very good YouTuber that explains things well.

How wide of a tip for soldering?

Let's keep it simple, send me a PM and I'll email you a flow chart that aids in determining the CC type, its characteristics and recommended methods of removal.

Got my new 2 Pro, found a weird handwritten note inside

I recall hearing a joke about a message in a Chinese fortune cookie. It said “Help I’m being held prisoner in this fortune cookie factory”. I wonder...

How wide of a tip for soldering?

Thunder, what kind of conformal coating is it? (AR, ER, UR, SR, Paraxylene). Removing conformal coat by heat may result in PCB damage. There are other methods such as solvent, scraping, etc. Tip temp of 850 seems a bit high and could be effective to remove “some” coatings while not others. PCB...

    Flight Anxiety

Been flying RC and “drones” of many types for over ten years and have lost a couple of fine Quadcopters with cameras. Bothe of those occurrences were due in part, to the lack of technology that exists today since incidents were several years ago. Today’s DJI products, like my favorite, Mavic...

    Tracking lost dog

There is an excellent product for tracking a lost dog. I bought one a few years ago and highly recommend it. I’ve used it on all my RC birds and still do by mounting it on my Mavic using the dog collar mount, although today’s drones are normally easily located. Back when I bought it, it was sold...

The goggles are really.... well, ******

The DJI goggles were, for me, a replacement to my Zeiss Cinemizers since [disappointed at the time] the Mavic does not accommodate the use of any other FPV methods. I purchased lens inserts (3rd party) since I needed reading glasses to see clearly. The “bulk” doesn’t bother me since I don’t hike...

Did flying in >100 degree weather do this to my batteries?

I appreciate all the input. I might add that I often have to be at locations in extreme heat where I am unable to bring my phone into the job site. I roll my phone up in a blanket to insulate and find it very effective in keeping the phone from overheating and unable to power back up until temp...

Did flying in >100 degree weather do this to my batteries?

To clarify, the batteries are now retired and put to pasture. I had no intent to fly with them again. I am mostly interested in if the heat of the desert, possibly the heat of them being in the car, was likely the cause.

Did flying in >100 degree weather do this to my batteries?

I have puffed Mavic batteries all of a sudden and it might be from the heat. I realize this topic has no doubt been discussed many times. However, I'd like a little advice in a hurry. These batteries pictured below have a lot of hours on them and have served me well. I am working out in the...

Drone taken away by police in US?

Thank you for your insight. Good advice. I still wish someone would put together a well-worded, legally accurate list of "5 Reasons I Can Legally Fly Here". This list would, of course, only apply if the pilot were in compliance. However, it would be a concise, handy pocket reference guide that...
