IMG_1685.jpegIMG_1688.jpegAdding Remote ID module + strobe, will 17g effect perf?

Although it’s under the reg weight threshold, I’ve registered and picked up a 14g remote ID module. And as this is my first drone, I got a 4g Firehouse strobe to aid in keeping line of sight.

Will 17g of added weight have any significant effect on performance, e.g., flight time, speed, maneuverability?

Should these both live as close to center on the drone as possible (top and bottom)?

Cheers!

Hello, i would personally say that it is not. it should be fine. as people add Propeller Guard to them so

I fly the mini 2 with a Ruko R111 Remote ID Module tahth weighs 14-grams. It puts the little bird over 250-grams, but I use it under my part 107 so that makes no difference... I have not noted any difference in performance. I am sure the Ruko has a bit of wind resistance and affects the top speed and the added wight drains a bit more off the battery, but like I wrote, none noted.

No doubt. Not super concerned about pro-level performance, as I am not one. I when I find myself living in Sport mode, I’ll upgrade to something with an avoidance system! TY!

Your Drone will have No problem with it. Also Don't worry about trying to Balance it on. The Drone will take care of that.
Just place it on the Drone in a way that it will not interfere with its electronics in flight.

As far as mounting I would suggest as "weight central" as possible. The battery is rear mounted on the drone and notice the RED Lines that intersect the motors. They intersect where the weight is balanced, a blend of front weight (very little verses the battery weight…) That way the engine thrust is more evenly balance between the front and rear motors…

So, when you plan mounting positions don't mount those item way up front on the "Flat Deck" (so inviting…) else the front motors will have to work harder to balance the drone.

It basically does not affect your handling of the drone as the IMU will control the motor speed to maintain level flight.
