$49 Huawei Ascend XT2 aka Wunderphone = THE best Mavic screen EVER

For anyone in Dane County, (Madison area), Wisconsin, the new Stoughton Walmart had about a half-dozen last night. They don't have a "wireless" specialty area, so go to the rear of the store (electronics) and ask for the phone by name. They will "price match" the online price only if you can show it's still valid by bringing up the offer online and show it to them! ( even though I had a paper screen shot of the online shopping basket ).

Neither the Monona nor Madison store stocked "that model."

Thanks, good to know. I’m in Madison as well.

This is why, when we hear politicians yapping about how they're going to protect us from "unfair" international trade, or big corporations like Walmart, or "our" jobs being shipped overseas, we should tell them to shut up and leave us alone.
What we are witnessing here is the miracle of capitalism. Don't let power-hungry economic ignoramuses screw with it.
The "invisible hand" isn't everything. If we support all of those Chinese brands like DJI and Huawei, eventually other brands like Autel and Apple will disappear. When that happens, the prices on those Chinese products will skyrocket, and America will have no jobs and no money to pay for them. We need to focus on America's good first rather than support communistic countries like China.

Hmmm...

Please stay on topic. You add nothing by wandering into such areas. My purchase choices are based on product merit, support, functionality, with some social awareness entering in.

I ordered 2 of these puppies last night from Wally World, and two of these cases from Amazon. No way am I missing out on a deal like this. Thinking about maybe ordering a couple more gifts for Xmas.

There are a lot of people who don't want to take the time to read through 400 posts to find a simple answer. Don't get me wrong though, I did read the whole thread ... LOL

I believe Xtreme Drone Pilot wrote somewhere in this thread that this phone doesn't use much battery, so the drain on the transmitter is insignificant. I plan to try letting it recharge from the transmitter so I never have to manually charge the phone itself. We'll see how it works.

Exactly, even the way this phone charges from RC is a miracle: it gets just enough juice to stay on approx. same %, and drains RC very minimally: mine discharges by about 25% per two full Mavic batteries (and this is total drain, due to both flying and charging the phone), so RC can last 8 full batteries - more than satisfactory. I'm flying with Wunderphone almost a week not charging it externally and the battery is still at 50%!

XDP, a little off-topic, but it looks like you're as cheap as I am when it comes to phone service. My first cell phone was an AT&T GoPhone, and I now have the same plan you do: $25 every three months, with the balance carrying over as long as I refill in time. I also use Google Voice. When somebody calls my GV number, it rings both my cell and our home phone (yes, we are dinosaurs - still have a landline). When I'm out, I have texts that are sent to the GV number forwarded to my cell. When I'm home I turn that off and just read them on my MacBook so I don't get charged for those texts by AT&T. Also free long-distance calling in the U.S. with GV from our home phone. A little flaky at times but worth it for free LD.

Yup, $25/3mo. here, totally enough, and accumulated more than $100 in rollovers. Instead, I put my money in $80/mo. WiFi hotspot plan (I have a standalone hotspot device, 20GB/mo.) and use data to augment voice minutes and also serves all of my devices. I use Skype for long distance and international calls, works fine; will take a look at GV.

Well, thanks for the great tip -- my pal in LA picked up two of these at his local Walmart -- one for each of us. PLUS, he got a $5 discount for buying two, AND had an additional coupon from jet.com for 25% off. So even with CA tax, they were under $40 each.

Many thanks to the OP! Once again, MavicPilots is a tremendous resource :)

Good job! That's some ninja shopping skills right there! :D

fishing in many ponds these days

Haha, I love this analogy! When you're not attached to any single ideology/ecosystem/anything, you feel freeer and more capable, you can pick'n'choose, much better than eating only parsley at an all-you-can-eat restaurant. :D

You won't get a better price on this phone IMO, maybe ever.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll go back to $119 soon, because Walmart has tons of gophones at ~$50 price point and they are much much worse than this. I think even $119 is worth it, but after $49 it seems "excessive". We're spoiled kids now! :D

Not sure about these passing as Xmax gifts, the packaging is very cheap, especially the "recycled toilet paper" cradle in which this puppy rests. You may want to take the Wunderphone out and put it in some nice box and wrap.

Just to clear something up, I have seen 2 people state that this a 6" screen. No - it is 5 1/2" Screen Just for comparison my iPhone 6 is 6.25"
Also, some place I saw the card size listed as Mini SD, but from everything I have seen it is Micro SD. As far as I know all the new devices went to the Micro SD.
Charge Cord is Micro USB 2.0
Also, the camera does have Face Detection. Somewhere on this thread stated that it doesn't, but the specs say it does, not that I use it though.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

wunder phone is at home i am at work LOL

Tell the boss you have a sudden intense itch in your hands. :D

I don't see this as an option, it has None, Pattern, PIN, Password. I always use None on all my phones anyway, don't live in favelas to be afraid of phone being stolen.

Walmart scares me.

It doesn't scare me... but then again, I'm not scared of jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. :D And not all Walmarts are created equal. All I go to are quite nice. And I always mind my thing when shopping and breeze through Scan-n-go, no time to pay attention to "walmartians", if a rare species sample does happen to be around. :D
