4K 60fps crop

How is it possible that on a drone just released when you use 4K 60fps you apply a 2x cut and the original air did not?

Because the sensor is different. It is bigger. The same applies to the cameras. The most m43 cameras can do 4k/60 without crop, but the most full frame can do 4k/60 with crop.

But air 2 or the original air apply that cut. And does the mavic pro 2 do it?

MP2 doesn't do 4K60. But it also has different crops in different modes.

the crop is likely due to not being able to get a full sensor read out at the speed needed to keep a high bit rate. This is common in many DSLR/mirrorless cameras that shoot video. Higher frame rates = crop.

That was the deal breaker for me. I love 60fps in super high quality. I know we're spoiled these days. But technology going forwards, not backwards is the whole selling point surely?
