All:

I'm just ramping up - have a mavic air coming and I see that it does not support the follow-me mode - so I'm going to use autopilot for that. I'm trying to understand why and think I've got it figured out. Can anyone confirm or deny that the mavic pro and spark have a gps in the remote controller itself? I think that the air doesn't and so dji doesnt support follow me based on random phone gps inputs - while autopilot does

Neither remote has GPS built in. That comes from the device via the device's (phone or tablet) built in GPS. (if it has one)

thanks - if that's the case then dji 'could' decide to enable at some point in the future - and it is a bizarre choice as to why they dont support it currently.

The potential problem with that feature is when your device provides bad/inaccurate info . . . bad things can happen. I've seen a post or two where this has been a problem with dynamic home point updating.
