Hello everyone!
I have recently experienced a very worrying behavior that happens at the end of each waypoint flight.

first of all i'm using a litchi mission converted into waypoint 2 mission thanks to the great wesbarris web utilities.
once uploaded on my phone (i'm using the fcc dji .10 version of the app frome dronetweaks) i fly the mission using the 4g dongle for extra safety. 4g dongle functions with lots of breaks but it does function.

the real problem is at the end: no matter if you have specificed RTH at the end of waypoint mission, after the last waypoint the aircraft will initiate autolanding, everytime and every mission.
please note battery is plenty so it's not a failsafe procedure

has anyone experienced this?

All DJI Fly missions created from my "Litchi to DJI Fly" converter have the "finish action" hard-coded to "goHome" when the mission completes:

'wpml:finishAction' => 'goHome',

Question: Do missions manually created in DJI Fly exhibit the same behavior or does the drone return to home after the mission completes? I would assume that they return to home as expected. If that is the case, would you create a simple mission in DJI Fly that would return to home after it completes, export that mission as a KMZ file, and send it to me? I would like to see if there is any difference in one of your working missions when compared to one created by my utility. It may be easier to contact me directly through my web site.

This may be as simple as the last waypoint being too close to the Home Point. If it is less than 5m, it will land where it is, which in this case can be as much as 15ft plus GPS error off of your home point... Not unusual for the total offset then to be as much as 30-40ft.

If the last WP is well outside the 5m radius around the HP, something else is happening.

Litchi's menu allows for the selection of actions that the drone should take when it reaches the final waypoint of its mission. If the user selects "RTH" as the action for the drone to take at the end of a Litchi waypoint mission, the drone will Return To Home AND proceed to autoland immediately following its arrival and transition to a hover above the launch point.

To ensure that the drone hovers but does NOT autoland after overflying all waypoints leading back to its launch point at the end of a waypoint mission, the action selected in the Litchi settings menu that the drone should take upon reaching its (Home) launch point should be to "Do Nothing", which will be interpreted as a command to hover in place above the home point/launch point without going into an auto-land.

Just to add, you must select Straight Lines must be selected in the settings for this to work. Actions will not work if you select Curved Turns.

If you are just going to do a video and no other actions, you get a smoother flight using Curved Turns and starting the video at the beginning of the mission. But if you want different actions at various waypoints, use straight lines

This key detail is appreciated, GFields. Intuitively I'd have selected "Curved Turns" as the more battery-efficient option that would maximize range per full charge, however, with the camera gimbal downward-tilt angle AND zoom power now available as flight plan preset values in DJI Fly's waypoint creation menu, I'll be sure and select the counter-intuitive option of "Straight Lines" to ensure the waypoint specification process works as intended.

While all the autonomous Lithi waypoint missions flown by my older DJI drones were purely video-filming voyages with no other actions besides altitude, airspeed, and camera heading orientation being assigned sequentially during the creation of each new autonomous waypoint mission, DJI's rapidly evolving innovation means I can now look forward to utilizing the Air 3's ability to adjust zoom power and camera gimbal downward tilt in response to preset values regardless of whether RC signal connectivity is interrupted or lost entirely at any time during the flight.

What a time to be alive. The dawn of the Drone Age has rendered the term UFO obsolete. The mind boggles contemplating what drones will be capable of doing 5 short years from now, both constructively and otherwise.
