I have a problem and can anyone answer this question. Is there a way to track a drone that has been lost in transit?

I lost my bag at the airport on the 19th june and it had my mavic pro, go pro and all my filming gear inside with alot of recordings on about 5 sd cards. I feel sick

say someone finds it and powers it on is there a way to track it???

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear your luggage & equipment are lost. That's got to feel terrible.

As @msinger stated there's no way to track it. Even powered on it doesn't send a "homing signal" of any kind.

Good luck and hope you get it back soon and fully intact with your SD data.

How did you lost, isnt your carry-on luggage? had you check with the lost and found sec. Dept. or report it bec there are cctv pretty can be monitor.

Its a little late now but I've been using "Tile" for the last 4-5 years in all of my luggage..... Tile Mate Trackers with replaceable battery get one or save with the 4 packs | Tile

Does it work? YES. While flying into Tampa for a cruise one of our checked bags never came out. The last time I "Saw" it was in the belly of the plane when we pulled up to the gate. I tracked it and I could see it was in the building. After talking to a baggage person and showing him the App where it looked to be (in the building) he said give me 30 minutes. Turns out the bag had fallen off one of the conveyor builds. Within 20 minutes I had the bag. It never would have happened if I did not have the Tile

That's a GREAT idea!! In theory you could check to make sure it's ON the plane when you depart and then again check after luggage goes through the carousal.

I feel sick for you. That is horrible. I hate to say it, but for others reading, this is why it is best to keep your memory cards on your person and drone in your carry on. (I think batteries are required to be in carry on anyway) I sure hope it is found and returned. Is your contact info included in/on drone?

This is good as long as the item is within 300 feet (Tile Pro).

Big Al: I have some limited experience with Tiles and I don't know if you would be able to tell if the luggage is on the aircraft or in the terminal. But for sure you could check its location upon arrival.

That said, once you begin to taxi and get a decent distance from the terminal, you can probably determine that the bag(s) are/are not on the aircraft.

Actually, no. Tile has a short range, BUT it has a community as well, so you can mark it missing and others with the App can notify you when a lost item is found. A friend of mine got a camera back this way from hundreds of miles away. Just FYI.

I am sorry for you. That's indeed unfortunate.
As I have been working in the Lost Baggage section (shortly before 09/11) as a temporary job I wonder, did you walk up to the representative agent at the airport and claim your lost? Eventhough most bags are processed without issues, some may get lost and an even smaller number are really not found within 2 - 3 days.

I only had one real theft all the others had been found.
Cross my fingers for you. Next, please always take such valuable items on your carry on. The possibility to lose or to get damaged is the reason, why these things (also like my DSLR) are always coming with me. Probably prepare for an isurance claim, if you have?

i used to use something like this but i found it better to use a mobile phone that you can track real time. if your bag goes to another airport, you can track it. if you make your tight connection but your bag doesn't make it, you can track it. if your bag leaves the airport, you can track it across town. non-phones are limited by range so they can give you status and cover most conditions but i was concerned about transporting firearms and i had to make sure those bags didn't get lost. something like a tile is ok when everything works good but when it goes sideways and you can take action, activate an old mobile phone and fire it up for location services.

i once tracked a diverted bag as it made it onto another airline for late arrival and eventually to a delivery service and to my home. i could see it all the way. don't forget, airlines have rules about mobile phones in flight so there's that.

if you have very valuable baggage and you want to airline to track that bag closely, unload your favorite firearm and throw it in the baggage, properly declare it in the airport and not only will that bag get tagged, inspected, and handled, it might even get escorted upon arrival (i.e. off-carousel) depending on the airport. please make sure your firearm is legal at the destination. use an old bb gun if you have to but imo, you shouldn't be leaving your home unarmed anyway. ;)

Just one more thought: Could it be possible that as the lugage was at the airpot of origin, the batteries were detected and tha therefor the lugae was not put in the plane at all? Something similiar happened to a friend of mine who had prohibited items in his luggage.

That's assuming there are others in the area that have the app. This is the first I'm hearing about the app so I'm not sure how widely used it is and that's going to be critical. I thought of Orlando airport where the baggage area has to be a half mile from the gate so you're going to need plenty of help (others with the app) if you hope to find your lost luggage in an airport that size.

Do you have any idea how big the Tile community is?

Sorry to hear but you are not supposed to put drones (actually batteries that are packed with it) in checked luggage that will wind up in the cargo hold. If a battery decides to fire up...

Actually, DJ Pedro never said he checked the luggage, or how the luggage was lost, only that he lost his bag at the airport and the drone was "lost in transit."

these days you don't get on a plane at your origin without an equivalent bag getting on with you. the days of using other carriers to ferry around bags, not so much. if you get pulled off a plane, unless they come get you on the runway, that's bag is coming off the plane. maybe it's the same way with connecting flights, usually the bags can beat you running to make your connection.

my guess is unless the bag was damaged in some way or the person mistakes minneapolis for indianapolis, bag was stolen. those tiles are good for local protection like when you are eating at the airport restaurant and you're distracted by the overpriced tab and didn't notice your bag walking away. or you're in the stall and somebody decides to grab your bag before you can "react. and then there is the trainwreck on the aircraft when de-planing or the transfer bus where we all know to keep your eye on your bag and keep it close because people ahead of you will grab your bag and walk off while you are blocked. never put your bag in the overheard up front and keep walking to the rear of the airplane, that's crazy. i realize sometimes you don't have a choice and flight attendants move things. tile is perfect for those.

Haha! so many comments and suggestions but mr. D or dj pedro seems is also lost for now as well? LOl!
