So, 400 feet is the altitude limit in the UK and I'll always adhere to that. My question is, if you are on a clifftop, that is for example 100ft above the sea, when you take off, surely the drone will say 3ft in the air, then if you fly over the cliff edge, are you now in theory at 103ft? Just want to make sure as if am flying want to be within the rules etc...

The drone will still show 3 feet in the air if you did not ascend further. The rules are 400 feet AGL though. You'll need to do those calculations yourself since the drone does not know where the ground is located.
