Anyone successfully using cheap android tablet with 1.2.4 Fly app

That's correct. It does have GPS. The mini 5 appears to have a compass but no GPS (WiFi model). Not having a compass doesn't seem to be a problem. What problem do you see with it?

Asus Zenpad Z8s is about the cheapest tablet you can get. You'd have to buy a used one and get a mount like this For DJI Mavic Air 2 Remote Control Mini iPad Tablet Holder Mount Flat Bracket PP | eBay
The cable that comes with the drone is just long enough to reach also so you wouldn't have to buy another cable.

Is this what you use? There's a bunch new and used on eBay. I'm not looking for rock bottom price but a low price small tablet with full DJI FLY functionality.

I was thinking about waiting for the mini 6 to come out then get a used mini 5 (WIFI+cellular) on eBay.

It's exactly what I use as well as a few others in the forum. I do believe it must be the Verizon model.

I'm thinking at this point "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Do you know for sure it's a 64 bit OS? Plus that article was written in August of 2017 and there's no place to download it. If you go to the compatibility list and click download it brings you right back to that article.

I don't see the point in getting a cheap tablet just to fly the drone it will be very basic and not much use for other apps like editing videos etc and in 12months be rendered useless
Get a newer tablet 2019/2020 model which you can receive regular updates as well as edit your videos
I do more with my tablet than fly my drone ,I use it more than my phone I'm doing my a2 cofc on it ,watch you tube videos etc

It works for the drone, and that's all I use it for. Video editing is done on a computer, the tablet never leaves the drone case if I'm not flying. I have another tablet for watching youtube etc.
