Using a Crystalsky Ultra; found the .dat files (wanted to confirm that one is created on the tablet upon powering up the bird with the R/C and CS running the Go4 app---it does).

Is this identical to the one on the bird? I've been reading of increasing difficulty downloading .dat's from the bird and would like the comfort to know that the one on the tablet is just as good in the case of an accident.

It's not the same. It's recorded at a lower sample rate (10 Hz), has fewer data fields, and has enough latency that for a catastrophic event the last few tenths of a second are missed. And obviously if the downlink failed then the data are missing. But it's often good enough, depending on the nature of the incident.
