Bigger Battery announcement / mavic air come in 3 different colors

I work at a Nationwide store and I saw upc/sku for new mavic air.

New mavic pro battery sku/upc

Dji spark discontinued so I do not know if mavic air will replace it or spark 2 is on its way

But for mavic air release date is March. The device is water resistant.

This evening I will be posting up a picture of the specs description.
Someone is going to lose either their job or their DJI dealership...

A 25% increase in battery life would obviously be welcome, so long as it wasn't more than a 25% increase in price. Otherwise, it's false economy.

True... I'm american so I'm all about more, more, more but when I take an honest look at my actual use. Well, I don't need more than 25 minutes or even 15 most of the time. My style is that I carry my Mavic with me everyday and stop to take quick shots if I see something interesting. I don't really go on dedicated drone outings as much anymore.

Taking this info at face value, I wouldn't care if DJI got rid of the Spark since it wasn't as micro-portable as it could have been since the arms didn't collapse or fold. If this Mavic Air is smaller than the Mavic Pro AND foldable, there just isn't a need to continue the Spark.

Ding, ding, ding!!! Now there's a great point, If the Air folds up as small as the Spark and has a 3 axis gimbal plus rear detection. At a cost close to the Spark. I think cost will be a factor here as all indications point to around $700. I'm ASSuming that's a complete kit and not drone only since the Mavic is under $800 if you only fly it with your phone.

The spark is gonna get discontinue

The more I think about it, the more this seems likely. With a remote, the Spark is pushing $550 and has serious flight time and camera limitations. If you could buy a drone that folds up as small or smaller than a Spark with the Mavic's current camera, 25+ minutes of flight time, 3 axis gimbal, better range, etc for around $600-700, why would you bother with the Spark?

Otherwise, if they keep the Spark in the range, I predict a package with the remote will be priced around $400. I also predict price reductions in the Mavic line up once the Mavic Pro 2 drops.

Tello-$100-200
Spark-$400 w/remote
Mavic Air-$600-700
Mavic Pro/Alpine White-$900-1000
Mavic Platinum-$1100
Mavic Pro 2-$1300
Phantom 4 Pro-$1500

I hope they (DJI) dont cripple the air with limited range etc like they did with spark in rest of world (except US).

Hey now, DJI didn't do that, it's the socialists that some countries vote into power that made those regulations. DJI is just following the rules as they were laid down by their respective gov'ts.

the mavic is not restricted, the phantom is not restricted, the inspire is not restricted.

Spoiler: DJI Mavic Air revealed day early with 4K, 21 min flight time, 3 colors

SO WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE DJI MAVIC AIR?

Let’s start with the specs:

  • A 32-megapixel camera with panorama mode
  • 1/2.3 CMOS sensor and new ISP (Image Signal Processor)
  • 4K video spec @ 60fps
  • 3-way gimbal (upgrade from 2-way on Spark)
  • Four foldable legs like the current Mavic Pro
  • Obstacle-avoidance sensors in the front, bottom, and back
  • Equipped with a VPS – Visual Positioning System for better control, hovering and indoor flying
  • Gesture control
  • 21-minute flight time
  • It will be available in different matte colors: white, black and red we’ve seen so far
  • Compatible with DJI Goggles
What we do not know yet:

  • Specifics on the sensor, i.e. size and codec. All of these play important roles in the actual quality of the photos and 4K video footage.
  • Range. Will the new Mavic Air have a range similar to the Spark (1.2 mi or 2 km) or to the current Mavic Pro (4.3 mi or 7 km)?
  • Price – we expect the DJI Mavic Air to be priced at $699 but we have not been able to confirm that.
We are not getting:

4K “at 60fps” is unknown surely?
