Your problem is an incompatability issue between your make of phone and DJI Go4 not being able to access the internet. Even try using or turning on Data instead of using wifi.
Once you get it then quickly go to settings in Go4 and download/cache the map for your country.

At random my maps started working as well. However, if you want to use Google maps instead you can do it by using task killer and going back to DJI go app. It goes blank for a few seconds then Google maps shows up.

I still can't download non Chinese cities which is stupid. But at least I can get live maps either way on my cell internet connection.
This is after task killer and swapping back

With Google maps working I just went into Google maps app and downloaded the areas I want and it works in go 4 app, just have to connect my phone to the internet every 30 days to activate / update them

Alright guys...new mavic, Android Moto X Pure running Android 6.0. The map area is always blank unless I enable all the Chinese settings, then I can see China...uh...I'm in the USA.

I've updated, reverted, and updated again all firmware, no dice.

I've reinstalled DJI Go a number of times with no luck.

Cache settings do nothing, and trying to download offline maps, I just get an error saying the network is down check your connection.

RC reset seems to do nothing as well - C1 C2 and record button. I even re formatted the mavic SD card. Nothing.

I'm about to punt this and return it if I can't get it resolved...any other ideas?

I had the same problem. One day maps were present, next day no maps. I am using an iPhone 6s Plus. I fixed it by turning on "Cache Maps in the Background" setting under general settings. A few seconds after I enabled that setting, the maps loaded. Some people have fixed the problem by deleting the app and reinstalling it.

I am having a problem with google maps loading in the small preview screen while the R/C and Mavic are powered on. I can toggle the screens on the Samsung S7 edge for google maps, while using the task killer, however when I power on the units and connect the phone, I get a blank preview screen, ( actually showing what the camera would normally show under the window). Full screen works and shows my Mavic tracking path, but nothing when I toggle back.

Oddly enough, when the units are off and I call up the DJI GO 4 app, I can get google maps in both screens when I toggle back and forth.

Any ideas on a fix for this issue?

Hey guys,

A blank map is a common problem and it might be solved by many methods like clearing a cache of a device. Maybe you can find the solution in our article about the most popular Google Maps problems.

Hopefully, I helped someone. Also don't be afraid to report errors to Google Support so they can actually fix the most common errors.

Kind regards,
Amy
