Can you edit + output 4K video on a 1080 display laptop?

Hopefully this isnt a too daft question....Im after a new laptop as my current one is old as the hills. Im looking at a Dell XPS, core i7 CPU, 16GB RAM and Geforce GTX 1050 gfx card. It has a 1080p display, but i want to be able to edit the 4k footage from my Mavic and GoPro cameras using Cyberlink Power Director. The idea being i'll be able to output over HDMI to my 4K TV (plus upload in 4K to YouTube, Vimeo) and watch the 4K footage. Does this sound feasible? Is it possible to edit 4k footage without a 4k display computer..and then output to a 4K display (and watch in 4K resolution?)

I dont have 4k display and I create 4k movies with Pinnacle Studio 20 on a 1080p screen using windows 10.

You can edit it and watch it, you just won't see the beauty of 4k.
