Apparently you can't register the ones which are included in the battery Plus combo kit but the ones included in the other kits can be registered?

WTF does that mean?

This is what happens when the manufacturer pulls out of the market and has no control over the message leaving it up to all kinds of people to make unfounded representations and claim from FCC to weights to RID and now....registration. Are they trying to steer people away from this sku?

Or......

Maybe the "opened and activated" kits this particular vendor is selling to the American public are re-packaged with drones inside that cannot be registered with the FAA because they are outside the serial number range perhaps? This is why you don't go with unknown sources because who wants an overweight M5P with RID which must be registered but can't with standard RID.

This is why you can't necessarily believe everything you read on the internet. If it means anything, my M5P drone from the Plus kit (purchase in S. Korea) is successfully registered with the FAA using a serial number within the approved range according to the FAA RID DoC: 1581F9DE000000000000 - 1581F9DEZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Also what is this? Mini 5 Pro Drone w/ Enhanced Video Transmission

I was a able to register both my Mini 5 Pro Fly More Plus and the just plain Mini 5 Pro with the standard battery, both came from Korea. It might be a misprint meaning the opposite that the Plus has to registered. I would ask them what they mean before one buys from them.

Dumb question, but now that you know it will still broadcast RID with the standard battery, and also is still over 250g, what reason would anyone have for now wanting standard batteries, rather than the Plus batteries, that have the same issues but offer 50% more flight time for a couple of dollars more?

Surely, had you known what we all now know, you wouldn’t still choose the standard battery version, or am I missing some reason for its benefit in the U.S.?

I now have 5 plus batteries and 3 standards for my main Mini 5 and the backup. When I ordered the backup Mini 5 I went with the most basic kit thinking that I already had an extra RC 2 controller and I would just use the plus batteries. At first I did not think I wanted any standard batteries but the second one came with C0 sticker and standard battery. I thought if travel to some other countries and brought the drone the standard battery version has less restrictions for flying.

Good thinking. Need four more standard batteries for EU travel? LOL!

THE BIGGER QUESTION IS whats so important that you have to have a back up drone for each of your drones ,several businesses in the area I deal with don't have or NEED back up drones for anything ,I have been flying for 7 years bet never needed a back up drone for my drones

I bought my Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo Plus from the 5th Ave DJI store in Manhattan. No issues at all registering it with the FAA.

I would NEVER approach a job without at least 3-4 aircraft on hand. My clients do not care about anything except results. I've had numerous situations over the years (just happened literally today) where having the backup meant being able to fulfill the obligation when otherwise I would not.
