Cliffs on app versions

I know I will take a beating for starting this thread but there are soo many threads with all different recs depending on when they were written. Can I get a very brief summary on the latest app/firmware versions? I know for awhile everyone said don't upgrade, is that still the case. I am currently on DJI GO 4.0.8.. should I role back to 0.7, should I update to current?

I just installed 4.1.9 on 1 of my Android and stayed on 4.0.5 on another.
