With the DJI ban looming, I believe we need a good drone company to appear in the U.S. But who could come close to topping DJI anytime soon? IMO, Elon Musk can. He has the technology, the money, the ability and desire to innovate, etc. This from Google:

Elon Musk is associated with products from his leading companies: Tesla (electric vehicles like the Model Y and Cybertruck, and solar products), SpaceX (Starlink internet service, Starship for space travel), xAI (the Grok AI chatbot), and previously OpenAI and Zip2. He also founded The Boring Company (tunneling infrastructure) and developed early internet services.

I think he could cobble together a good, high-quality drone with all (or most) of a DJI drone's features and maybe even some new ones. I'd suggest it to him but I don't have his phone number. Anyone know how to contact him?

So is this a good idea or what?

Then you'll get to pay $10000 in advance for an obstacle avoidance feature that's "coming soon", wait 10 years without it ever appearing, and be told that it'll actually need new hardware and not be anywhere as capable as what was advertised when you paid for it anyway 🤣

So I guess that's a NO?

Sure it’s a good idea but they are gonna be expensive…..Probably require Starlink..lol

You can contact Elon on Twitter ! ;) But since he has fallen out of favour with your god-king he probably won't be prepared to pay the necessary bribes or do the kow-towing.

And we won't even let his cars in the country they are deemed so unsafe, so there is that...

Elon Musk, tech genius? Me thinks not. His SpaceX Rockets are complete failures, well not complete, just three out of four blew up prematurely.
I can let him off the exploding rockets - we expect a number of those to go boom while we find the right way to build them, and I am told it's very helpful to the ongoing effort when they do. At least 3 need to blow up before we find one that doesn't !

Complete failures? Landing a rocket and reusing it is an incredible feat. One of the most significant advancements in rockets today. No one else can even come close. If his stuff were complete failures everyone wouldn't be using his tech to launch into space today.

Elon is eccentric and a bit manic at times but many of the smartest, or talented people in the world today and throughout history are. I'd buy his drone if he ever made one. Wish I had bought his "NOT A FLAMETHROWER" when it came out. It was only $600 too lol

Elon isn't a genius. He's gotten in on the ground floor of a lot of things and managed to make a ton of money.
The money doesn't come from thin air. He makes money by taking it from the ordinary people all over the world.
NONE of his tech came from his brain. Maybe some of the ideas did. I can see him saying "lets make a truck that looks like a prison toilet or let's make a consumer flame thrower and even Hey, let's send a Tesla car into space. But I bet he can't tell you a single line of code, the voltage conversion between house current and a Tesla battery or possibly even know what a 13mm wrench looks like.

A bit manic at times? He's clearly bipolar and as nutty as squirrel poop. He's a poster child for rich people aren't always smart people. He almost bankrupt Twitter with his across the board layoffs and then did the same in the government here.

And, yeah, he's spread his seed to whatever desperate woman wanted it. He's worse than Nick Cannon in that regard.

I said he was smart not a genius. And his personal life has nothing to do with things he has accomplished in his professional life. He's definitely accomplished more than most including you and I. Like the other poster said, he's the richest man in the world, so he's pretty smart. I'm sure if he supported the other side you'd absolutely 100% feel differently. It's sad, you can show those people proof of something, right in their face and they still will not believe it. Willful ignorance and that's stupid. Btw Saving money on useless workers is not going to bankrupt anyone. Cutting costs does the opposite actually... Obviously. duh.

I don't think anyone can reasonably argue that Elon isn't also a genius, based upon the definition of the term. Like him or not, he is both smart intellectually and a genius. Maybe a bit crazy, too, but aren't all geniuses? He was also sitting next to Trump during the Kirk Memorial, so he and Trump must have kissed and made up! That also seems very smart to me. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. LOL!

To be a genius means to possess or demonstrate extraordinary intellectual power and creative ability, often manifesting as exceptional skill in a particular field like art, music, or science. While a very high IQ score is often considered, the defining traits are typically originality, imaginative thinking, and the capacity to innovate and set new standards, going beyond mere intelligence or talent.

Key Characteristics of Genius
  • Exceptional Intellectual Power:
A core aspect is a profound mental capacity that surpasses the ordinary.

  • Creativity and Originality:
Geniuses often display a wealth of original ideas and the ability to imagine and think in entirely new ways.

  • Innovative Insight:
They possess the capacity to generate new insights, methods, or solutions that were previously beyond the capabilities of others.

  • Specialized Talent:
This extraordinary ability is often focused on a specific area, such as a scientific or artistic endeavor.

  • Impact and Influence:
A genius's work often sets new standards, has a significant influence on their field, and surpasses expectations.
Distinction from Intelligence and Talent
  • Intelligence: is the capacity for abstract thought, understanding, and learning.

  • Talent: refers to a natural aptitude or special ability in a certain area.

  • Genius: integrates these concepts, but emphasizes an extraordinary level of creative application and insight that goes beyond merely being smart or having a high aptitude.
