Im recreational pilot and relatively new to drones. Im planning a trip to Alaska this July to drive the Dalton Highway. I have a couple of requests for recomendations concerning my Mavic 2 Pro.
1) Propellors. I have the type that came with the drone but looking to buy some spares. I hear carbon fiber props are best for stability especially in high wind conditions. However, I see no DJI brand carbon fiber props. Any suggestions concerning the after market brands? Also, I note there are 3 bladed props out there too. Any advantages/disadvantages to those?

2) Anyone have experience in Northern Alaska and insight with regards to GPS reception?

Thanks

Mark

Welcome to our forum, Mark.
From the tests I've seen, the CF props perform slightly less well than stock DJI. Granted, CF is tougher. But in a crash, I'd rather have the prop break and have the motor be saved. As to GPS reception in the far north, I have no idea. You might try asking in the blogs of Magellan, Garmin, or other GPS mfrs. Another concern may be the wide disparity between mag north and true north in the high latitudes. BTW, I'm jealous as hell about your upcoming trip!

From my limited experience traveling there a coulpe of years ago, GPS signals are valid and usable without any problems. Airplanes and boats use them to reliabily navigate throughout the area.

Thank you for your replies. Good information. And going point regarding props. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace compared to motors. Thanks again
