I have a mini 3 pro and mavic 3 pro. I use both and love them both. Both have the smart controllers.
I am looking to get into mapping at some point.
I was disappointed with the mini 4 pro as the new controller was not compatible with the Mavic 3 Pro, so decided to stay put.
Every so often the smart RC controllers on the Mini and mavic lose video signal when I need it the most.
With the pending arrival of the new Mavic 4 pro I am trying to decide whether to go for that, or spend more on a Matrice 4E, and upgrade the mini 3 pro.
Or.
Stay with the mini 3 and mavic 3 and just buy an RC pro controller to improve the signal loss.
I can do mapping either both the Mavic 3 and mini 3 pro apparently.
Anyone in the same boat?

I have a few thoughts on this >

Were reaching a point where the quality of video and the pictures from the Mavic 3 and Air 3 are so good were reaching a wall where technology is not quite doing anything different for us.

An example of this is that I can tell very distinctly the quality of 1080 and 2K , the 2K footage on the computer is a perfect, but I cannot tell the difference between 2k and 4K video , now when I watch it on a 20 Ft Screen Projector I can tell again the Difference between 2k and 4K , its noticeable again. My point is no big break though there.

As you might know we make the Wet Suits for the DJI drones to fly in the Pouring Rain, and the Matrice 4E is a not even as water proof as the last Matrice , but neither can fly better in the rain than the Mavic 3 Pro with a Wet Suit so many our disappointed with that drone. As i have a long list to build a Wet Suit for that drone.

The zoom on all the drones have been a Cinematic Disappointment . Overtime you stop using them or settle on 2 x zoom.

At the end of the day when you post your Mavic 4 pro video next to the Mavic 3 Pro or even Phantom 4 Pro no one will know the difference.

When it comes to the Sensors , they need faster chips to take us up a notch and were not quite there yet so when you go to depend on them and they fail , you feel every bit of that $4500 .

On that note : keep your Mini 3 and Mavic 3 get the RC controller , as you will get better signal as I use to have the Smart Controller with the Alien 3 Electronic antenna and once I got the RC pro I sold it .

Neither of those drones has any "zoom camera".
As well as the usual wideangle lens equipped main camera, they have additional cameras with fixed focal length tele lenses.
Those of the Mavic 3 pro are capable of producing very good results.

I have the same two drones. I think the mini 3 pro is junk because it doesn't fly DJI waypoint missions. I wouldn't of bought it if I had know that.

If you have a mavic 3 pro, you will always tell people who don't know about it, you're zooming rather than changing camera's, because they understand zoom. But no big deal.

I'd never say that, and neither would anyone who understands anything about photography.
Sounds like you don't understand zoom.

I reached that conclusion a long time ago. I have the M3 which produces images and videos as good as I would ever want. I am a hobbyist and do not fly commercially. I also have the Mini 4 Pro and use it mostly for travel. Both drones are satisfactory for me. I admit I always try to receive and view drone videos at the highest resolution by clicking on the 4K in the lower right hand corner. I definitely do not like watching a 1080p or even a 2K video when compared to a 4k video. Often, I will refuse to watch a 12080p video.

I think I understand zoom. I've had cameras with zoom lens for over 45 years. But if a drone novice is watching me fly, I'm not gonna spend 5 minutes explaining to him how my Mavic 3 Pro has 3 cameras.

There's MSL and AGL.
There's airspeed and ground speed.
Some folks talk about speed as knots/hour.

Why belabor the semantics?
I'm sure the poster who said zoom, knew it doesn't really have a zoom. But most intelligent drone owners should know what he meant.
